Photoshop CS3 Tutorial: Advanced Selecting Hair

In this video we will cover using channels to cleanly cut out complex hair selections of both brunette and blonde hair on a studio style background and an outdoor scene. You will learn a lot about how to select things in Photoshop using the techniques displayed in this video which will aid you in selecting many different things, not just hair.

Very long process …
Very long process but provides a great result. Clever use of levels and selection to clear out the bg near her edges. I was watching this for your hair color tutorial but now I’m getting sleepy and I might not be able to watch it. Great tut though. 5/5

actually i think this is a grate tutorial i didn’t have to use the blur tool at all, however i understand theres different techniques you just have to find the one that would be good for your work.

Correction. I’ve only posted twice.
Actually, this tutorial isn’t all that great to begin with. With the simple image used in example one, the aliasing could be brought down with feathering, brushing, etc.
As for the second, that one came out hideous. I wouldn’t be caught dead using a crop of that quality in my artwork. That’d have to be a of an extensive blur, or alot of brushing to hide that edge.

Now that that’s over with lets get back to the topic. If she find it difficult then obviously she is not skilled at adobe photoshop. Had she paid attention to the tips given on this video, and continued to practise then she would not have complained in the first place.

Yet you overlook that while he might be bad at photoshop, one must wonder what your issue is, to be occupying your time by anonymously insulting someone you do not know. Why they do you care about his graphic abilities?
I notice other people have quips with you on your profile. And your fav vids all suck. Pretty clear that you benefit society. You probably don’t even have photoshop. At least a legal version.

obviously i have the same amount of time on my hands as you seeing that you post here too. Perhaps if you spent more time on your work in photoshop/ paying attention to this video and less time crying about like an infant then maybe you would not be complaining about being so bad (which is exactly what your doing!)

which is why he is showing us TWO techniques. He clearly states that the first technique that he demonstrates only works on pictures where the object (the girl in this case) to be extracted is on a more or less uniform background of a different color than the person. And no, it doesn’t have to be a LIGHT background, it all depends on the color and lightness/darkness of the object that you’re going to extract.
